Audience:

Media Has An Effect On Us In A Lot Of Different Ways, Either Positive Or Negative. This Is Because; The Media Can Be Used To Persuade Us To Buy Specific Products Through Advertising. However, It Can Also Be Used To Follow Corrupt Leaders Through Propaganda.

The Media Can Be Seen To Bring Us Closer Together As People Across The World Will Have Experienced The Same Media Event.


Media Is Usually Experienced By People Alone, Although A Wide Range Of The Audience Will Be Found To Be Following The Same Media Text.

When We Listen To Our CD’s Or Go To The Cinemas, We Become Part Of A Mass Audience. However, We’re Separated From All The Other Members Of This Mass By Space And Maybe Even Time.

Within Less Than A 100 Years, Photography, Film, Radio And Television Were All Invented. The Popularity Increased For Each Of These Media Texts. In The Past, Only The People Who Could Afford Them Had Access To These Texts. However, Particularly Film And Radio Are Available To All.

Firstly, Membership Includes People Of Different Class Position, Of Different Vocation, Of Different Cultural Attainment And Of Different Wealth. Secondly, The Mass Is Stated As Anonymous Individuals. Thirdly, There Exists Little Change Of Experience Between Members Of The Mass. Fourthly, The Mass Is Very Insecurely Organised.

Questions:

1) I Believe That Different Kinds Of People Watch Different Programmes. This Is Because; Most Programmes Are Targeted At Specific People In Order To Grab Their Attention. Therefore; People Are Interested In Different Things. For Example, Children Are Least Likely To Be Found Watching Something That May Interest The Older Generation. However, A Large Variety Of Different People Watch The News.

2) My Media Experience Occurs When I Am Around Other People. With This, I Am Able To Discuss The Matter With One Another, Therefore Getting Different Points Of View Coming In.

3) I Share My Experiences Of The Media With Other People As I Can Discuss The Views, And Inform Them On What Has Been Happening.

During The Extract, The Mise En Scene Enables The Audience To Identify What Type Of Genre The Film Is Going To Be. The Extract Is Set In A Club Which Allows The Audience To Identify That The Genre Of The Film Will Be Dance Since The Whole Scene Consists Of The Male And Female Characters Dancing Together As A Couple. Also, The Prop Being Shown Is The Characters Holding A Microphone. Therefore, This Allows The Audience To Understand That The Genre Of The Film Will Be Dance Since The Extract Includes The Actors Singing And Dancing. As The Extract Continues, The Lighting Used Is All High Key Lighting. As A Result, This Connotes That The Scene Is Coming Across A Pleasant Moment Where The Characters All Seem To Be Happy. Moreover, Their Facial Expressions Also Give Away To The Audience That The Actors Are Feeling Content. There Are A Range Of Different Camera Movements Used. Long Shots Have Been Used To Show The Whole Of The Mise En Scene. Again, The Audience Are Able To Have A Brief Idea On What The Genre Will Be Since The Scene Shown Is Set In A Club. Moreover, Close Ups Have Been Used To Show The Audience What The Characters Are Feeling. Point Of View Shots Have Also Been Used; Therefore This Creates An Enigma For The Audience As They Are Able To Question Why The Specific Shot Is Being Shown. Moreover, The Audience Are Able To Position Themselves As The Characters. Throughout The Extract, Continuity Editing Has Been Used As Each Shot Is Placed Logically. Therefore, The Audience Have A Clear Understanding Of The Narrative And What Is Going On In The Extract.
